Some friends from media ask: "You do teach journalism, right?" I find myself in a tight spot trying to explain what "Writing for Print Media" is all about. It would be easy to say yes.
I do teach the basics of media writing and editing, news writing, feature writing, and so on. And we indeed do projects like newsletters and magazines. But I also include writing for PR in its different communicative contexts, and do mock-ups of print ads and other promotional materials.
So it's not really just journalistic writing that I teach in this course. Perhaps that's what makes this course unique, as the program aims to equip students to be adept in the skills for all kinds of communicative contexts. So here's to a productive semester ahead.
